The Australian Government has launched the Carer Gateway which is is a national online and phone service that provides practical information and resources to support carers. The interactive service finder helps carers connect to local support services.
There are many services available for carers and the people they care for. They cover many different parts of life. This is a good place to start to get help.
If you’re caring for someone, you might find it hard to take a break. But it is important that you do – both for you and for the person you care for. Respite care is when the person you care for is looked after by someone else. That can be in their home, or somewhere else. It might be for just a short time, like a few hours or overnight, or it can be for longer periods, like a few weeks.
